Beginner Penspinning Combos
Creating and executing smooth, creative, aesthetically appealing combos is the goal of every penspinner. In order to achieve this, you must not only continue to expand your range of tricks, but also start linking them together. Through trial and error, you will figure out cool combinations and go from there. If you are reading this, I assume you have already learned the 4 Fundamentals and at least taken a look at Other Tricks 1 and Other Tricks 2. Here are some mini combos to help you unleash your creativity.
Sonic Rise / Sonic Fall
Let’s start with an easy one. Both of these minicombos are just 2 sonics linked together. Sonic rise starts in slot 34 and ends in 12, sonic fall starts in 12 and ends in 34.
Double Charge
This one is a nice time waster if you’re bored at school or work. The name suggests it links 2 charges together, but that’s not really the case if you look closely. The breakdown is twisted sonic 23-12 -> pass 12-34.
Twisted Sonic Bust
This minicombo is a very popular “finisher”. It looks nice when smoothly executed and it forces the pen to come to an abrupt stop, which makes it a great trick to end a combo. The breakdown is twisted sonic 23-12 -> index backaround reverse. The second trick is often called a “bust” when performed palm down.
Kam’s 4 Loop Combo
This well known combo, created by penspinner Kam, is slightly longer than the ones I showed previously. It consists of 3 tricks and was originally performed palm down. The breakdown is sonic 34-23 -> twisted sonic 23-12 -> thumbspin 1.5.
Backaround Fall (Bakfall)
Ok, this one is easily the hardest combo in this post. Even if you’ve practiced all the tricks I have posted on Penspinning Central up till now, this will probably still cause you a good deal of frustration. The Bakfall is a backaround in every finger from the index to the pinky, linked together with passes. Since most commited penspinners learn it at some point, many see it as a milestone in your growth. This is where penspinning starts to go from a casual hobby to something more. The difficulty is high and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
